Ray Soo Mix

Fresh from his European tour, last Saturday saw Ray Soo, Zouk KL's ex-resident spin an array of forward thinking minimal techno at our very own HOME. This signified the launch of his label Love International. For more info on ray himself please go www.raysoo.net or www.myspace.com/raysoomusic. For a little taster of his sound before we put up the podcast with a live mix, please download a recent mix from this link:

A surprise mammoth set at the end of the night by for[e]site and Podo brought the heat right back on as they went back to back to bring both classic gems from past and present giving those who stayed an aural feast of electronic enjoyment.

Keep your eyes and ears out for SMILE. Coming soon to give dancefloors what they have been yearning. Bringing the spirit of the old school with a taste and appreciation for dance music of a timeless genre.

Beat Live 02/5/2007

Last Friday saw two new comers make their appearances on the Home Stage. First up was Allura, a strong vocalist with some proper rock behind her. This band made a lasting first impression with high energy guitars and and an intensity equally matched by vocals and percussion. Catchy Zeppelinesque styled songs, its rare you see an indie band with roots coming back from bands who were much more heavy on guitar licks and solo, pin-holing the psychedelic rock of the 60s. I was very much impressed by a band I had heard less than a whimper from before their show. I'll be sure to check out what they will be up to. Yes yes, they have a Myspace people.

Black goth guitars.

Yes, I can wale louder than you can!

Next was Another Sunday Afternoon. Clearly coming from a much grungier pool than the first band, one might look towards bands like Weezer as obvious influences. A strong front man, lyrics were interwoven with dirty guitar riffs to tell stories that were both amusing and captivating. Towards the end lead singer and guitarist put his mouth to something other than the words to his songs but tothe strings of his guitar. In true Jimi fashion we had our very own rerun of Woodstock '69. Well not exactly quite the same but hey...

Look man! no hands!
